Our no-hassle subscriptions allow you to select how often you'd like to receive your order, and you can change or cancel at any time.

All of our recipes are tailored to your pup’s individual needs, so your unique price will depend on your pup’s age, breed, size, activity level, sensitivities, specific needs and the bag size you choose. On average, a typical 20lb, active pup can get started on a Tailored 20lb bag recipe for around $50 every 7 weeks, while a 50lb dog would be closer to $50 every 4 weeks.

Once you go through our quiz and reach the personalized product recommendation page, you will be able to see your pup’s specific pricing details. If you choose to sign up for a subscription, you will save 10% on every order!

To make sure we are providing you with the best recipe for your pup, you will need to retake the quiz. A new recipe may be best for your pup based on your updated quiz information. Every time you add a new dog, you must complete the quiz so that we can match each dog with their own personalized recipe. First make sure you are NOT logged in to your Account, click the "Take the Quiz" button and complete the quiz using the same email you used for your other dog(s). Your additional dog will then be added to your account.

Stripe is a company that we use for credit card processing, that's why you are seeing their name on your statement. Your credit card and personal information are always handled securely.

Delivery

At this time, delivery is available only to the 48 contiguous states within the U.S. and the District of Columbia. We currently do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico or Puerto Rico.
Unfortunately we cannot deliver to a P.O. box. Please ensure you have a street address for your shipping address.
If you are placing a one-time order, or the first order for a subscription, your product will arrive within 2-5 business days of placing your order, depending on where you live in the United States. If on a subscription, subsequent orders will arrive on the frequency that you select when placing your initial order.
We offer fast, free shipping via FedEx. Non-subscription orders typically arrive within 2-5 days of processing. Subscription orders will arrive according to the frequency you selected.
If you choose to set up a subscription (and save 10% on your ongoing orders!), then you can select a shipment frequency between 2 to 12 weeks based on your dog's needs. And don't worry, you can always adjust future order dates or your shipping frequency if necessary.
You can adjust the shipment date of a future order up to 2 business days prior to its processing date by logging into your Account and clicking on 'Manage Account' within the 'My Pet(s)' section. You will receive an email notification prior to when an order is scheduled for processing and at that time can make changes as needed. Yes! It's easy to adjust the shipment date of a future order up to 2 business days prior to its processing date. You will receive an email notification prior to your order's processing date.

To adjust the shipment date of a future order, simply go to your Account page > My Pet(s) > Manage Account > update "Next Charge Date" to your desired next shipment date. 

Yes. You will receive a confirmation email when you place your order.  Once your order ships, you will receive another email along with a tracking number you can use to check the status of your delivery.  Finally, you will receive an email when your order is delivered to your door. If you are on a subscription, you will receive a reminder email three days before your next order processes in case you need to make any changes.

Once your order ships we send you an email notification with a FedEx tracking number so you may keep close tabs on your order. You can also find your tracking number on your account page under “Order History”.

We do not require a signature for our deliveries. If you aren't home, your driver will typically leave the order at your door. If you will be gone for an extended period, you can pause your shipment, or we could ship the package to an alternate address if you contact our Consumer Care prior to your package leaving our order fulfillment center.

How do you recommend I transition my dog to Tailored Pet Food?

It is very important that you slowly transition your dog to their Tailored food over a period of seven to ten days to ensure a smooth transition. Your dog will love their new Tailored blend so much that you may be tempted to switch faster, but we still recommend a slow & easy transition to help their bellies adjust to their new blend. 

These transition instructions will be provided in your Welcome Booklet with your first shipment. 

  • Days one through three, mix 25% Tailored food with 75% previous food.
  • Days four through six, mix 50% Tailored food with 50% previous food.
  • Days seven through nine, mix 75% Tailored food with 25% previous food.
  • Days ten and beyond, your dog is fully transitioned and you can feed 100% Tailored food.

According to the CDC, “At this time, there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Based on the limited data available, the risk of animals spreading COVID-19 to people is considered to be low. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person, typically through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking.

"People sick with COVID-19 should isolate themselves from other people and animals, including pets, during their illness until we know more about how this virus affects animals. At this time we do not offer prescription diets.  If your pet has a specific medical condition that may require a prescription-based pet food, please consult your veterinarian to ensure they are on the proper diet.

While most of our ingredients are sourced from the USA, we also source high-quality ingredients from trusted supplier partners in other countries to ensure we're providing pets with the best and most wholesome ingredients available on the market. Whether this is real lamb from New Zealand, seafood from Canada, or duck from France, we hold every one of our ingredients and ingredient suppliers to the highest standards of quality and food safety.
We do source a limited amount of ingredients from China, primarily certain vitamins and mineral supplements that are not readily available from other countries. Regardless of where our ingredients come from, we only use trusted suppliers and always ensure that every ingredient we source is thoroughly tested for safety and quality.
Our product manufacturing facilities are located right here in the USA, where we use highly skilled and trained staff in the crafting of wholesome and safe food for our beloved pets. Your personalized feeding guidelines will be located on the back of your bag of Tailored food, or you can access them within your account page on our website. Simply go to your account page, click on "My Pets" and "Product Details" within the "Meal Plan Type" section. Here you can view all of your pup's specific product details, including their feeding guidelines. 
We start with the information that you provided, specifically your dog's weight, age and activity level. Based on the calories per cup provided by your dog's specific recommended blend, we calculate how many cups per day your dog should have. Of course, you should still monitor your dog's weight and adjust the feeding amount as necessary to maintain their ideal body condition.

If you suspect your dog is showing symptoms of DCM, it’s important to work closely with your veterinarian to determine the most appropriate diet for your pup.

DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) is a disease that may occur in dogs and cats where the heart, specifically the left ventricle, becomes enlarged and is not able to pump blood effectively.  Certain dog breeds are predisposed to canine DCM, including Golden Retrievers, Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Boxers and Cocker Spaniels, though any breed can be affected.  Diagnosis of DCM can only be determined by echocardiography.  This diagnostic method is able to measure the chambers and pump functionality of the heart.

Despite the lack of a distinctive link between taurine supplementation and canine DCM, it has been found that increased levels of taurine in a diet may help prevent or reverse the signs of DCM in some cases.  As such, our pet nutrition experts have supplemented Tailored recipes with taurine when appropriate to help decrease the overall risk of developing DCM.

According to a June 2020 article from the Journal of Animal Science, in which more than 150 published studies on DCM were reviewed, it was determined that there is no definitive relationship between DCM and grain-free dog food, or dog food containing legumes or novel protein sources.  This is consistent with the FDA’s findings that there is no strong evidence of a specific dietary link to the development of DCM.  Currently, the FDA is not advising dietary changes based solely on the information gathered thus far.

Because puppies grow so quickly, their daily feeding requirements may change before you've had a chance to update their profile with us. While they are puppies we want you to have feeding instructions for a wider range so you can adjust feeding amounts as they grow. When your dog is an adult, typically at around 18 months old, and you update their profile with us, we will print the actual daily feeding amount right on their bag of Tailored pet food. As always, feeding amounts may vary based on your individual dog, so be sure to monitor your dog's body condition and adjust their daily food intake accordingly.

Each bag will have a "Best by" date. Our pet food is guaranteed to maintain its freshness and be enjoyed by your pet until this date, regardless of when the package is opened.

 

Yes. Our food is natural with added vitamins, minerals and taurine (if applicable) to provide complete and balanced nutrition.
We do recommend completing a profile for each of your dogs. This will ensure each individual dog is getting a recipe that is specific to their unique needs. Each recipe will provide feeding instructions specific to your dog's weight and activity level. We offer free shipping, so you won't pay extra to feed each dog their own recipe.
Yes. We are able to craft recipes for dogs of all sizes. We take into account requirements of different breed sizes (for example, smaller-sized kibble for toy breeds), in addition to your dog's specific profile, to develop a recipe specifically tailored to your dog's needs. Your dog's feeding instructions will be tailored to their specific weight and activity level.
Some of our recipes do contain grains. Grains can be a great source of energy and important digestible nutrients including protein, vitamin E, and linoleic acid. They also can be a great source of fiber needed to support a healthy digestive tract. The decision to choose grain-free vs. grain containing foods is based on several factors, such as allergies or sensitivities to ingredients. The most important thing to remember is to choose a food that provides your dog with complete and balanced nutrition, which all Tailored Pet products provide.
Some dogs may have sensitivities to certain grains; it's best to consult with your veterinarian if you suspect this may be the case for your dog. Tens of millions of dogs however, enjoy grain-free recipes and most do not have sensitivities. In either case, Tailored "grain-free" and "with grain" recipes are nutritionally balanced and formulated meet or exceed the requirements for your dog as established by AAFCO.
Yes.  We are able to craft Limited Ingredient Diets using many of our different protein options.  Our Limited Ingredient Diets provide complete and balanced nutrition for your dog, and may contain between 7 to 10 ingredients, plus vitamin, minerals and taurine (if applicable). 
Yes! We partner with TerraCycle so that every Tailored bag can be recycled. Simply visit terracycle.com/en-US/brigades/tailored to sign up for our recycling program - for free! All you'll need to do is place your empty bag into any available shipping box that you have, download a pre-paid shipping label from terracycle.com, place the label on the shipping box, and mail it for recycling. Our corrugate boxes and inserts are made with recycled material as well, and can be recycled with your standard home recycling.

We hope your dog loves their new recipe, but if you and your pup aren't completely satisfied we urge you to contact our Consumer Care team. They can help find a recipe that might be a better fit, or offer you a refund. And don't forget - it's important to follow the transition instructions provided with your first order to ensure a smooth transition over 7-10 days.

At this time we do not offer expedited shipping. If you are on a subscription plan, you can select a shipment frequency between 2 and 12 weeks based on your dog's needs. You can always adjust future order dates or your shipping frequency if necessary.

You will be charged when your blend is fulfilled within our fulfillment center. Ongoing orders will be processed according to the frequency you selected and can be changed within your Account page.
