Can pets contract COVID-19?

According to the CDC, “At this time, there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Based on the limited data available, the risk of animals spreading COVID-19 to people is considered to be low. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person, typically through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking.

"People sick with COVID-19 should isolate themselves from other people and animals, including pets, during their illness until we know more about how this virus affects animals. If you must care for your pet or be around animals while you are sick, wear a cloth face covering and wash your hands before and after you interact with pets.”  More information on this topic can be found here:  CDC

What steps is Tailored taking to ensure their products are safe from exposure to COVID-19?

Currently, there’s no evidence that the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted via food.  And nothing is more important than food safety for us at Tailored Pet.  All of our pet parents and pets can feel confident in our strict food safety procedures and practices from ingredient sourcing, to manufacturing, packaging and shipping.

We are committed to doing our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.  During the current outbreak, we’ve implemented additional precautionary measures to protect the health and safety of our people and broader community.  We’ve restricted visitors to our facilities and have increased sanitation of heavily trafficked areas and items touched most often.  While our associates are always diligent about proper hand-washing, we encourage telecommuting, practice social distancing, wear personal protection equipment, and take more breaks for sanitizing and disinfecting as a precaution.  We also practice safe, contact-free pickups with our FedEx shipping partners.

In these uncertain times, it’s even more important for businesses like ours to stay in business.  We’re here to help you order the best nutrition for your furry family members –from the comfort & safety of your home– and deliver it safely to your doorstep.  We are committed to making your life easier and your pet’s life better.
